   L'Opel Rekord C est présentée à la presse le 23 août 1966. Outre la carrosserie qui est complètement redessinée, la suspension arrière a été revue (les ressorts hélicoïdaux sont remplacés par des ressorts à lames). Opel propose cinq carrosseries différents : berline 2 ou 4 portes, break 3 ou 5 portes et coupé. Le choix des moteurs est le suivant : 1500 (1492 cm³ / 58 ch), 1700 (1698 cm³, 60 ch), 1700 S (1698 cm / 75 ch) et 1900 S (1897 cm³ / 90 ch).
   A partir du mois de mars 1967, les berlines Luxe 4 portes et coupés peuvent recevoir un moteur 6 cylindres 2200 (2239 cm³ / 95 ch). Le moteur 6 cylindres ne sera proposé que pendant un peu plus d'un an seulement.
   En septembre1967 apparaît le coupé Sprint. Son moteur de 1897 cm³ développe 106 ch grâce à deux carburateurs double corps.
   En février 1968, la puissance des moteurs 1500 et 1700 est légèrement augmentée (respectivement 60 et 66 ch).
   1.274.362 Rekord C ont été produites jusqu'en décembre 1971.
