Mazda RX-2, "Project Pizza Delivery" built by Fast Fours & Rotaries magazine in Australia - featured in 6 issues. Ex-Group 2E racing car, street registered with very modified 13B Turbo with custom water/air intercooler. History Built by Fast Fours & Rotaries magazine and Selectmaz (Vic.) to demonstrate how a street registered car could also be used as a competitive race car. Won its debut Group 2E club car race, beating Porsches in the 12hr endurance race at Winton in 1994. The car has featured in six issues of Fast Fours, and also in Hottest Rotaries No 1. Originally had a Bridge port motor with 48IDA Weber, 4.7 diff, Borg Warner 5 speed and multicoloured interior. Bought by a Victorian who changed the interior, and replaced the motor (which blew) with an extend port 13B EFI (ex Series 5 RX-7 minus turbo). Selectmaz then added a turbo in September 1996, and promptly blew a rotor housing when dyno testing (made 286 bhp on 8psi). Engine was fully rebuilt (for free) using 3mm apex seals, and nitrided housings and various brand new parts. Turbo was hi-flowed by Frank Lowndes Turbos in Melbourne. When registered in SA, the car went in for further modifcations by Rotary Automotive Services - changed computer from Wolf 3D to Haltech, got a custom water/air intercooler built, and various other mods. Brian Hester (ex-Racing Beat SA and current Haltech rep) has done all the work on the car since then.
