This was the first four-wheel passenger car produced by Toyo Kogyo (Present Mazda Motor Corp.) It featured epoch-making mechanisms, such as a four-cycle engine in a lightweight car and a two-speed automatic transmission. It drew attention by realizing sports car styling within the limitations of a small car. Produced until 1966, it was succeeded by the Carrol.
Rear-engine, rear-drive model with the 356cc air-cooled V2 OHV 16 horsepower. The monocoque body was fitted with a four-speed floor-shifted transmission and a rack-and-pinion steering assembly. The four-wheel independent suspension incorporated rubber torsion springs. A version of semi-automatic transmission was also available.
