With the Hammel, this little machine is one of Denmark's two old¬est known surviving automobiles. The Copenhagen firm that made it, H. C. Christiansen & Company, went on to provide the capital with its first motor taxis in 1904, and built cars until 1906. Before being identified, the vehicle illustrated was thought to be an im¬ported French car, since it has a Longue-mare carburettor and shares other characteristics of French light cars of the time. The 3-h.p. engine was made by the manufacturers. The car, which is more briefly known as the Dansk or Christiansen, still exists, in the care of the Danish Technical Museum.
