   The "classic" Town & Country models most people associate with the name. The eight-cylinder convertible built on the New Yorker chassis is the most common. All carried the Wallace idea of wood trim on a conventional steel body one step further, putting them in the "glamor" class with Chrysler's big top-line convertibles.
   Alas, the mahogany-veneer panels gave way to Di-Noc decals in late 1947.
   The eight-cylinder sedan was discontinued early, and its six-cylinder counterpart departed at mid-year 1948.
   A few 1948 convertibles were reserialed as part of Chrysler's stopgap "first series" 1949 lineup.
