En 1900, à l'age de 19 ans, Ettore Bugatti démarra la construction de ses propres automobiles, avec l'aide financière du comte Gulinelli, qui avait couru chez Prinetti & Stucchi avec Bugatti.
   Cette voiture fut désigné plus tard comme "Type 2", et lui fit remporter un diplôme et la coupe au salon de Milan de 1901.
   Le baron de Dietrich aima la voiture, et ensemble ils commencèrent la production des voitures "De Dietrich-Bugatti" en 1902.

   In 1900, at the age of 9, Ettore Bugatti started to build his own cars, financially backed by Count Gulinelli - who had run for Prinetti & Stucchi along with Bugatti.
   This car was later designated as “Type 2”, and helped Bugatti be awarded a diploma and win the cup at the 1901 Milan motor show.
   The baron of Dietrich liked the car, and with Bugatti, he started the production of “De Dietrich-Bugatti” cars in 1902.
