Despite being well known for producing open sports models, the best selling Allard model was in fact the P1 saloon. The P1 entered production in 1948 and quickly established itself as a powerful saloon car with sporting overtones, enhanced in 1952 by a win on the Monte Carlo rally.
The P1 came with a choice of American V8 engines, including the popular Ford and Mercury units. Tuned versions of the P1 could easily develop over 110bhp and had capacities as large as 4.4 litres. Production ended in 1952 after 559 cars had been built.
