La firme Autobianchi, qui faisait partie du groupe Fiat, présenta en 1969 l'Autobianchi A 112.
   La version de base utilisa le moteur de la Fiat 850 Sport, mais avec une puissance descendue à 44 ch. Appréciant sa légèreté (seulement 685 kg) et une très bonne tenue de route, l'atelier de Karl Abarth eut la volonté de mettre le moteur d'une TCR 1000 dans l'A112. Le premier prototype développait 100 ch. Mais Fiat décida de réduire la puissance de la première A 112 à 58 ch; d'où le nom officiel A112 HP 58.
   En 1974 l'A112 HP 70 fut présentée avec 70 ch.
   Il y eut beaucoup de changements durant la vie de l'A 112 tant à la carrosserie qu'à l'intérieur, mais le moteur resta le même.
   La production de la version Abarth stoppa en 1985.

   The Autobianchi factory, which was part of the Fiat group, unveiled the Autobianchi A112 in 1969.
   The basic version utilized the engine of the Fiat 850 Sport but with a reduced power of 44 hp. Enjoying its lightness (only 1510 lbs approximately) and excellent road holding, Karl Abarth’s manufacturing team wanted to equip the A112 with the engine of a TCR 1000. The first prototype produced 100 hp. But Fiat decided to bring the power of the first A112 down to 58 hp, which gave the official name A112 HP 58.
   In 1974, the A112 HP 70 was unveiled equipped with a 70 hp engine.
   Many changes were made on the A112 as much outside as the inside, however the engine remained untouched.
   The production of the Abarth version ceased in 1985.
